The publishing world was taken by surprise today when it was announced that as of May 6th, 2009, BVC member Sue Lange (We, Robots;
The Textile Planet) will be taking an unprecedented four (4) days off.
In a news conference this morning, Lange’s press secretary, Scusteister
Schwamp, issued the official statement: “Ms. Lange has not taken a
vacation in years so it has been a long time coming; nevertheless, we
were shocked and somewhat saddened by the news. We’re not sure why she
chose just this moment to do this, but we are determined to make the
best of the situation. We would like to assure her readers and fans
that the words will continue to flow. There will be no break in
service. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.”
When
pressed for comment, Tritcheon Hash, the star of Lange’s first novel,
said this: “I don’t really know what the fuss is about. I doubt anyone
will even miss her. I personally won’t.”
