A story of love and loss and the price of immortality,
written in honor of J.R.R. Tolkien’s 100th birthday. This is a
sequel to The Hound and the Falcon.
Dissatisfied with the way that whole "Columbus-discovers-America" thing turned out, I decided to rewrite history a bit, using much fact (Columbus' logs and accounts of the fall of Hang Zhou), a touch of artistic license and a lot of good old-fashioned "what-if-ing". The story was published in Paradox magazine and was a finalist for the Sidewise Award for Alternate History.
