The Laura Anne Gilman Bookshelf
Laura Anne Gilman
I am best-known as a novelist, but my first love was short fiction, and I still
continue to work in that form. Why? Because short fiction pushes
buttons. It asks “what if?” and then doesn’t always give you the
answer. It entertains, yes, but it also opens wounds... or helps heal
them. It has the freedom to take risks, dare failure, and fling itself
off a cliff to get an idea of what it’s like to fly.
And because, honestly, it’s fun to kick up your heels in the shorter format, every now and again.
Here in Book View Café you’ll eventually find an assortment of my
shorter fiction, from flash to novella-length. Hopefully it will give
you a hunger, not only for more of my work, but short fiction overall,
in every genre.
