Enchantment
Young Adult Fantasy Romance by Pati Nagle
Holly Parker’s life changes forever when she visits Enchantment Spring
with her older sister Madison. They hike through the woods, and when
they reach the spring, Holly’s disappointed. A concrete coffin full of
water? She expected a pool surrounded by flowers, birds, dancing
dragonflies.
But fine. They eat the lunch they packed, and lounge around in the
sunshine a while. As they get ready to leave, Holly dabbles her fingers
in the water.
And sees a face beneath the surface.
The joy of first love fills her, but Holly’s happiness turns to horror
when she learns that the government plans to demolish Enchantment
Spring. Her passion for Ohlan — the beautiful water spirit who inhabits
the spring — is so strong that she’ll gladly risk her life, standing
between the spring and the backhoes, to save him.

A word from the author...
This story was written as a tribute to Roger Zelazny, one of the kindest
and most talented writers I've ever known. It's a little bit mystery, a
little bit futuristic, and a lot Southwestern. It first appeared in Lord of the Fantastic, and was first published electronically in my ebook collection, Coyote Ugly and Other Tales. Enjoy!

Gal veston (Far Western Civil War book 3)
P.G. Nagle
The Battle of Valverde is over, and
Jamie Russell, now a Confederate war hero, returns home to his
family. Jamie's sister Emma has been shattered by the death of her
true love at Valverde. Worried about their daughter, Jamie's parents
convince him to escort Emma to Galveston. Emma will have a chance to
escape her monotonous life on the ranch, become a lady, and perhaps
leave the memory of death behind her.
Jamie soon discovers
that Galveston lacks the defenses it needs to ward off a Union naval
attack. Troubled by leaving his sister and aunt in a place
susceptible to Union takeover, Jamie returns to his unit and begs
with Confederate officers to have Galveston's defenses strengthened.
His pleas fall on deaf ears. Union warships arrive in Galveston Bay,
taking it for the Federals and confirming Jamie's worst fears. Now
Jamie must travel back to Galveston in a secret Confederate operation
to reclaim the city and rescue his family.
I was not a Civil War enthusiast when I set out to write historical
novels. As I wrote about the New Mexico Campaign, I became fascinated
by this quintissential American conflict, which still underlies our
culture today. I also became intrigued by the artillery, and decided to
follow the Valverde Battery through its further adventures in Texas and
Louisiana. I hope you'll enjoy the story as much as I enjoyed writing
it.
While Galveston stands on its own as a novel, you might like to read Glorieta Pass and The Guns of Valverde first.

This year, 2010, marks the tenth anniversary of the
publication of The Guns of Valverde, the second novel in my Far
Western Civil War series. I'm delighted to make it available
electronically for the first time. (I recommend reading book 1, Glorieta Pass, first.)
"Lauded for her research as well as her terrific storytelling skills,
Nagle . . . gives life and depth to characters on both sides of the
battle lines while telling a host of secondary tales. Pointing up human
foibles as well as detailing the hardships and the horrors of war, this
is a worthwhile read."
